A Phrase to Live By

As I sit by the window a brown wren goes chirp, chirp, chirp. I don’t know how long he’s been doing it, I’ve only just tuned him in now, but I will say that little guy’s persistent.

“Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp….”

It’s the same message, the same tone and he’s not letting go. Suddenly I wonder what it would be like to be born with just one phrase, cursed with only one thing to say for the rest of your life.

Over here
Look at me
What time is it?
I think you're pretty
Danger, danger!
Is that a worm?
Which way to Mexico?
Help

If I had to choose one phrase to live with it would be tell me a story. Unfortunately in the avian world it would have to be a rather short one.
